mommy, there's a letter in my backpack...

and you're going to be mad at me...

Oh, my sweet, sweet girl. Yes, school is supposed to be fun. But, Audrey....

See, audrey is in the monkey class. Every person has a paper monkey assigned to them... and if your monkey gets moved once it's just a warning. If you monkey gets moved twice you get a letter home to mom and dad. If your monkey doesn't get moved, you get to choose a prize from the prize bucket on friday. Audrey got a letter today. I never did get the story why her monkey got moved the first time, luckily the teacher wrote the reason for the second time on the letter home.

"playing in the bathroom and then running and yelling in the hallway". She was having fun... but not following the rules. How to teach her that she comes from a mommy and daddy whose monkey probably would have never been moved!!! I am a rule follower, I like to blend into the background, knowing that I know the answers without drawing attention to myself. Running and yelling in the hallway?! Oh my funny, funny child.

I talked to her sternly and told her I loved her but was really disappointed. I took away her favorite (I think) thing, TV. She tried to bargain with me, "can you take away gum instead?". No, I think TV is a good punishment. "how about a tushy pinch?". No, we'll stick with TV.

That was a hard one!!! We went to the park after jack woke up. Dinner. It's bath night, because the kids got sooooo dirty at the park. There wasn't actually any time for TV!!! So, I read Audrey a book and turned out the lights and then let Andrew watch a show as punishment to Audrey?! Silly, I know, but I made my point to Audrey :)

Oh, daddy called, he's on a business trip. Audrey had to tell Daddy what happened... that crushed her. Then, Phil asked me if this was serious... nooooo, it's not horribly serious, but I don't want Audrey to know that ;)

the tooth... the pickle... and the toothless

Sunday, August 22... eating dinner (the pickle)... Audrey lost her first tooth. I left a huge hole in her gums and a pool of blood in her mouth. After my stomach turned, I ran to get the camera.
Audrey got this cute pillow from our neighbor Angela. It was sewn with princess fabric and had a fabric tooth sewn on it. You can hang it on your door... so we put the tooth in a baggie (because, it was really gross) and put the baggie in the 'tooth'.

It was amazing... while we all slept, the tooth fairy took the baggie with the tooth in it and left a $1 bill and a penny. Audrey got up when her alarm went off on monday at 6:05, got dressed and came running downstairs to show us her dollar!!!

I've had to pull her out of bed every day since... what can I do to get the tooth fairy to come every night. That might be worth the dollar!!! Out of bed, dressed, and ready to go!!! Without mommy nagging :)

so, I am smart?

The breakfast table this morning... just Audrey while I make her lunch.

A: mom, we live America. America is the world we live it.

M: well, Audrey, America is the nation we live in. The Earth is the world.

A: Oh yeah, that's what my teacher said! And, mom, the place above us... it's called... uh... called...

M: Canada?

A: Yeah!! Canada!!! We live in America and the place above us is called Canada!!! Wow, mom, you're pretty smart!!!

M: yep, Audrey, I am.

huh... what will happen when she realizes I know Calculus?! Who am I joking... by the time Calculus is important to her, I'll have forgotten it all. I've been trying to tell her I'm smart for a few years now. Aparently Canada and Earth were important enough for her to realize it... for today.

Week 4... of kindergarten.

Audrey has school pictures today and three things happened....

-she lost her first tooth last night!!! she was eating a pickle... my stomach got a little yucky when I looked. I'm just happy she didn't swallow it!!! pool of watery blood in her mouth, holding a tooth, huge hole where the tooth used to be.

-I had to trim her bangs last night!!! I just forgot to take her somewhere on saturday!!! They probably look better than if I had taken her just anywhere... so it's OK, I hope. We'll find out when we get the pictures ;)

-I forgot to send the picture money in with her. So, there I am at school with her money. The secretary calls to her class and audrey comes running down the hallway with a little friend it tow. It's cute, her teacher has her pick out a friend to come with her. Natalie (she remembered her name!!!)... she gave me a hug and kiss... she gave andrew a hug and kiss... she pulled Jack down to hug and kiss too... made my day!!! I may forget things more often ;)

so what if I'm bored?!

Audrey's at school, for a large part of the day.

My house is clean. Laundry is being done... really can't do much about this one, you wash/dry, you wait, you fold and start the process over... pretty slow. Breakfast is done. Lunch is done. I have not showered, but no on in this house cares.

I'm bored.

Last week, I baked way too much. Phil's coworkers may get tired of the baked goods, or they may get fat.

I go to the gym, I run, I take classes, I play bad tennis.

I shop... only for things I need, right?! Our amex card is showing the totals though, and they are a bit scary.

Soooo, what does this mean??? Hobby's??? We don't have a garden this year and frankly, it's been too darn hot outside to do anything. Hobby's I used to have: sewing and scrapbooking. I don't want to pull out the scrapbooking stuff b/c it takes up so much space!!! I could set up a table in the dining room, but then I'd feel the need to hide it when people come over. For some reason, it's OK to have an empty yet clean room than have a room with a plastic table and paper strewn around everywhere!!!

agh... I think I'll go shower and make another cup of coffee.
